You can see where they got the inspiration for the Coupé and Quattro.

Yep, and what about that 1st gen Scirocco? Just those wipers seem odd-placed.

You know that joke about, "The 70's called and they want their design gestalt back?"
Well, whatever the inverse of that is, I want it to happen.

Just get a 1st gen VW Scirocco! It's very similar.
And I think you're right.

I was just looking at pictures of this thing, too while going down a Giugiaro rabbit hole. I love the Scirocco, but this has more charm.

Giugiaro/Italdesign certainly has a style that's pretty recognizable. And the 1st gen Golf/Scirocco were Giugiaro-designs as well of course, massive success for them!
But Giugiaro's best is of course...

That is a great car. Those wheels are killer.
But, this is his masterpiece.
Spoiler alert: it figures prominently in the Pacer article.

Ah, the Corvair Testudo! From Bertone but indeed: Giorgetto was a designer for Bertone back then. So there's a link between Giugiaro and the Pacer?

Yeah, everyone says it was mostly Gioretto's design even though it's officially a Bertone. That car is basically the link between the Pacer and the 928. It rocked everyone's world when it came out. I think it owes a big debt to the E-Type Jaguar, though, so maybe the Pacer is actually an XKE.

Haha, the one and only F-Type! Can't wait.

bits of Miura in the design as well.
